Warm Homes Social Housing Fund
Warm Homes Local Grant
This scheme prioritises households who may be most affected by energy costs or living in less energy efficient homes (homes with an Energy Performance Certificate {EPC}rating of D to G).
It is available to owner-occupiers, private renters and landlords.
You may be eligible for support if:
Someone in your household receives certain income related benefits, such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Housing Benefit.
Your total combined household income is considered a ‘lower-income household’, usually a gross (before tax) annual household income of £36k or less including all benefits received
Your home is in a specific postcode area that automatically qualifies for this funding support under the scheme. Check if your postcode is automatically eligible here.
Your income is considered low after paying rent or mortgage costs each month, based on your total household size.
This funding scheme is administered by E.ON for Great Yarmouth and Norwich residents and Norfolk Warm Homes for all other Norfolk residents

Boiler Upgrade Scheme
Almost all households can benefit from a £7,500 reduction in the cost of a heat pump through the government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS). If you own the property and don’t already have a low-carbon heating system, you can apply for this. The heat pump must be installed by an MCS-accredited installer, who will confirm eligibility, claim the grant on your behalf, and deduct the money from your installation cost.
Council Specific Offers
In addition to the national government schemes some councils have local offers or grants. These range from advice for households and group-buying schemes to hardship funds for those struggling with bills.

Loans and self-financing
In addition to government grants, you may be able to access other forms of finance to help you upgrade your home’s energy efficiency – via your bank or mortgage provider, for example. Some mortgage providers offer cashback on a heat pump, and some provide 0%-interest loans for green improvements to your home.

Warm Homes Social Housing Fund
There is separate funding available for social housing which is administered by your housing provider. If you feel your home could benefit from energy improvements you should contact your landlord for more information.
What do I need to do next?
The guides on this site explain common home energy improvements, how they work, and what types of homes they may be suitable for. This can help you understand which measures might benefit your property.
If you think your household may be eligible for support, the organisations listed at the bottom rolling banner of this page can provide advice about local funding schemes and confirm whether you may be eligible.
If you need to fund works fully or partly through a loan you should discuss the works with the provider to understand if there are any restrictions or clauses that apply to the works. A green loan provider may have access to discounts and/or recommended installers.
You can also find further information on our next steps page.
More questions about grants?
If you decide to apply for a grant, the delivery partner will guide you through the process. This usually involves confirming eligibility, completing an application, and arranging a property survey to assess what improvements may be suitable for your home.
Depending on the scheme, you may also need to provide documents such as proof of property ownership or evidence of household income or benefits. Surveys may also check the condition of your property and existing energy performance before any improvements can be approved.
Your local scheme provider will explain the full process and next steps if you choose to proceed.
Timescales can vary depending on the scheme and the type of improvements being considered. The process usually involves checking eligibility, carrying out a property survey and planning the recommended upgrades before any installation work begins.
This depends entirely on the scheme and your individual circumstances. Some households may qualify for fully funded improvements, while others may need to contribute partially or fully towards costs. Your local scheme provider can explain what funding may be available.
